ABOUT QUIGGIN’S
Quality Confectioners since 1840
Quiggin’s have gained recognition for making the very finest quality confectionery dating back to 1840. In those early years on the Isle of Man over sixty different types of sweets were made including Coconut Ice, Bullseyes, Mona Cough Drops, and Mint Pennants.
It was, however, a stick of rock that brought fame to the family in 1845 when Mr Quiggin’s daughter presented it to Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, when he visited the Isle of Man.
This is thought to be the first recorded stick of lettered rock and bore the words “Welcome Prince Albert to Mona” along with the “Three Legs of Man” motif throughout its centre. It is also believed that Quiggin’s invented the oldest commercially made Mint Patties which may have inspired the birth of the original energy bar -Kendal Mint Cake when one of the sons moved to Kendal in 1872.
Quiggin’s were the first to enrobe Kendal Mint Cake in chocolate and as a result have also developed a wide range of hand-crafted chocolates, fudge and other confectionery.
Demand for Quiggin’s superior products has led us to export to countries including: United States of America, China, New – Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong as well as a number of European countries.
Today we continue to preserve the inherent tradition of the finest quality products, efficient service and personal supervision of the manufacturing process which was established by our ancestor Mr William Quiggin.

In the past three years Quiggin’s have commissioned S.T.S. to audit all of their Manufacturing Processes and Quality Control Systems in order to help guarantee the production of the highest quality of products. This again points to Quiggin’s determination to strive for excellence!
Recharged Mint Cake
Quiggin’s in collaboration with Kendal Mint Co. over a period of several months have helped to develop and birth a new and “recharged” bar of Kendal Mint Cake – the KMC NRG BAR.
The addition of Kendal Mint Co.’s Informed Sport Blend of B Vitamins and Electrolytes help to further meet the requirements of endurance athletes whether they be runners, swimmers or cyclists. This new bar sits in Kendal Mint Co.’s range of evolutionary sports nutritional products which can be found at www.kendalmint.co.uk

Since the time of its birth Quiggin’s have continued to make Kendal Mint Cake in the same old time-honoured ways. The recipe has changed little over the years and the use of large open copper pans for boiling up the sugar solution is still in operation today. The experience gained over these many years is put to good use as each bar is carefully hand poured by our dedicated team.
